AMP is NOW HIRING a Human Resources Benefits Specialist for a community college in McAllen, TX

Contract assignment with FULL TIME hours, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Benefits Specialist administers various employee benefit plans such as life, health, dental, and disability insurance, pension plans, sick leave, and leave of absence. Responsible for workers compensation reporting, administering eligibility under the Affordable Care Act, performing standard payroll processing functions, and maintaining compliance with state and federal requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates and administers employee benefit plans.
  • Performs standard payroll processing functions to ensure timely processing and compliance to regulations and policies as required by law.
  • Assists employees, former employees, and retirees with plan related questions and requests for COBRA, eligibility, life events, open enrollment, and retirement.
  • Provides vendors with appropriate documentation for work related injuries/illnesses, life, pension, and disability benefits claims.
  • Reviews medical support order reports from the Office of the Attorney General.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required 
  • Two (2) years of experience in benefits or human resources in a higher education setting, highly preferred
