We are now hiring an HR Benefits Specialist for a community college in McAllen, TX.

**Candidates MUST be able to work Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

The Benefits Specialist administers various employee benefit plans such as life, health, dental, and disability insurance, pension plans, sick leave, and leave of absence. Responsible for workers compensation reporting, administering eligibility under the Affordable Care Act, performing standard payroll processing functions, and maintaining compliance with state and federal requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates and administers employee benefit plans.
  • Responsible for workers compensation reporting and compliance; follows-up with
    employees, providers and insurance vendors for all cases until closed.
  • Maintains vendor contact to investigate discrepancies and provides information in
    non-routine situations.
  • Prepares all payroll maintenance and supporting documentation in a timely manner
    to comply with applicable federal and state laws and College policies and
    procedures.
  • Reviews medical support order reports from the Office of the Attorney General.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; REQUIRED.
  • Two (2) years of experience in benefits or human resources in a higher education
    setting, preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred
