AMP is NOW HIRING A Human Resource Assistant in the MCALLEN area!

**Great CONTRACT opportunity!!

**Must be able to work a FULL TIME schedule Monday – Friday; 8AM – 5PM; with evenings and weekends as needed

The Payroll Assistant is responsible for accurately processing employee payments by calculating earnings and deductions in accordance with policies, procedures, and payroll law; inputs and maintains the integrity of pay-related data in the personnel management system; and cooperates with staff members to perform necessary payroll functions.

Job Duties:

  • Collects, compiles, and enters payroll data.
  • Reviews and verifies payroll documents.
  • Processes new assignments, terminations, transfers, and promotions.
  • Processes employee advances and paybacks.
  • Coordinates with benefits and payroll staff to process payroll by established deadlines.
  • Reviews payments processed, Investigates, and corrects payroll discrepancies and errors, if necessary.
  • Prepares reports of assignments, earnings, hours worked, taxes, and other payroll-related data.
  • Addresses employees’ pay-related concerns and provides accurate payroll information.
  • Completes requests for pay-related documents including statements and verifications.
  • Coordinates with Benefits Specialist to determine benefits eligibility of employees.
  • Creates and maintains rule and validation tables in the personnel management system.
  • Assists with the transition of payroll data to the new fiscal year.
  • Participates in Human Resources training for staff from other departments.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employee/college records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Associate’s Degree, a minimum of 60 college hours, or sixteen (16) years of relevant experience required.

  • At least two (2) years of payroll or related experience, preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education institution, preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
